Butter a microwave-safe baking pan.
Soak the sliced bread in half the milk.
Cut the onion into thin strips and microwave in a plastic bag (or in a deep bowl covered with a plate) for 8 minutes at maximum heat.

Once done, remove, let them cool and drain.
In a bowl beat the egg and mix with the soaked bread, the remaining milk, breadcrumbs and the crumbled mozzarella cheese.
Add the onion, season, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and mix.
Pour the preparation in the baking pan and cook 10 minutes at maximum heat and then 4 minutes at medium heat.
Alternatively, you can bake it at 356 °F (180 °C) for 20 minutes. Remove and serve the onion pie.
