For the rice: Add double the volume of water to rice in a pot.
Add the turmeric, half of the chopped garlic and salt and pepper to taste.
Once boiling, lower the heat. Cook for 17 - 20 minutes or until the liquid is completely absorbed, and the rice is tender.
Separately, make a cross-shaped cut at the top of the tomato of about one finger deep.
Place the tomato in a pot of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. Next, remove, drain and blend. Set aside.
Chop the chicken and season with salt and pepper, while heating half of the oil in a pot over medium-high heat.
Once heated, add the chicken and sear on the outside. Set aside.
Chop the onion and the rest of the garlic.
In the same pot, add the rest of the oil along with the onion, garlic and a pinch of salt. Stir-fry for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Then add the tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper to taste. Season with ground chili, paprika and chopped basil.
Add the chicken again and once boiling, lower the heat and cook for 10 more minutes.
Serve the spicy chicken with turmeric rice on a plate. If you have whole chili peppers, slice and add.
